Cinema West plans to transform the former Regal Edwards Boise Downtown theater into boutique cinema.
BOISE, ID (June 21, 2022) — Movie goers in downtown Boise will soon have a new, luxury spot to catch the latest blockbuster releases when Cinema West opens its newest theater later this year in the BoDo District. Cinema West, who brought Meridian’s Village Cinema to the Treasure Valley, will take the place of the former Regal Edwards Boise Downtown theater on W. Broad Street and transform the existing nine auditoriums, plus two new ones, into an upscale, boutique cinema, appropriately called BoDo Cinema.
“The recent revitalization of Boise’s downtown has been exceptional, and we are thrilled to be a part of it by adding an equally cool and hip movie theater to the mix,” said James Howard of Cinema West.
“We have a proven reputation for bringing an upscale movie-going experience to our guests and can’t wait to give Boise’s Downtown locals and visitors the same opportunity.”
The existing nine auditorium’s stadium seating will be completely retrofitted with Luxury Electric Recliners, Luxury Chaise Loungers-for-two in the front rows, new carpeting throughout, and larger wall-to-wall screens. The two largest auditoriums of the nine will be upgraded with Cinema West’s proprietary GIANT SCREEN amenity paired with Dolby ATMOS, a state-of-the-art, revolutionary spatial audio technology for the most immersive 360-degree sound. In addition, to accommodate private screenings for groups and small event gatherings, Cinema West will add two new VIP screening rooms for the ultimate private viewing experience. All eleven auditoriums will also be equipped with brilliant all-laser projection to delivery next-generation high image quality that is crystal clear and vibrant. The lobby and common areas too will be re-stylized to create a more cosmopolitan atmosphere of the former neon clad shell. The newly reimagined BoDo Cinema will include food and beverage options ranging from the classics to a selection of hot, innovative snacks.
“Cinema West has reimagined the movie going experience from the film selections and luxury seats to the food and beverage options,” said Rob Gerbitz, CEO of Hendricks Commercial Properties.
“We can’t wait to invite guests back to a location familiar to them, immersing them in everything the BoDo district has to offer.”
Cinema West plans to open the BoDo Cinema later this year, in time for the holidays or very early in 2023. The Warehouse Food Hall, which takes up 29,000 square feet on the main level, plans to open its doors this summer on July 12, 2022.
